The National Association of Compass is a Constituent Body of National Parents Council (post primary) representing all Parents who choose to educate their sons and daughters in schools or colleges which promote a Protestant or a Minority Ethos. There are 27 such affiliated schools in the Republic Most schools will have elected Parent Representatives on their Boards of Management. The majority of Compass Schools have links with The Church of Ireland and there are also five Protestant established Comprehensive schools, three of which are under the patronage of the Archbishop of Dublin, one under the Bishop of Cork and one under the Donegal Board of Education.
The other minority religion schools are St Andrews College in Dublin which is associated with the Presbyterian Church; Wesley College in Dublin under the auspices of the Methodist Church Annual Conference; The Society of Friends manages Newtown School in Waterford and has links with Drogheda Grammer School; and the Jewish Community runs Stratford College in Rathgar, Dublin.
All schools affiliated to Compass express a particular ethos which stems from their respective religious and cultural traditions. They welcome pupils and teachers from all religious backgrounds and none.
